Unanimously elected, Judge Roberts next to lead circuit as chief judge

Circuit Court Judge Charles E. Roberts

Congratulations to Judge Charles E. Roberts who will serve as the Twelfth Judicial Circuit’s chief judge beginning July 1, 2021.

Unanimously elected by his colleagues, Chief Judge Elect Roberts assumes the administrative role for the two-year term of July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023.

The role of chief judge is an administrative function. Judge Roberts will report directly to the Florida Supreme Court chief justice and will oversee local court operations by assigning judges to divisions, coordinating dockets so cases move through the court system efficiently and quickly, assigning courtrooms and issuing Administrative Orders that direct daily court business. In addition to his chief judge duties, Judge Roberts will preside over the newly created Problem-Solving Courts, Criminal Administrative Division “P.”
