Uniform summary judgment procedures begin December 1

Uniform summary judgment procedures in civil cases are slated to take effect on December 1, 2021, pursuant to a new administrative order issued by Chief Judge Roberts.

AO2021-19.1, signed on November 9, 2021, supplements Rule 1.510, Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, to help “secure the just, speedy, and inexpensive determination of every action.” The new procedures are modeled after the requirements of many federal courts applying the same summary judgment standard.

Unless ordered differently by the presiding judge, all summary judgment motions, responses, and optional replies filed in county civil and circuit civil cases must comply with the new requirements and uniform procedures.
