TWELFTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT COURT'S RULES OF ENGAGEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court's Twitter account and Instagram account are to engage in an open dialogue with the community, to foster conversation and share information. We expect all comments to be respectful, civil, and relevant. Comments posted by users are their own views, not those of our court, judges or staff. Users are unable to transact any court business using Twitter or Instagram. Commenting on either platform is for users to chat amongst themselves, not to communicate with the Court itself. Comments will not be reviewed by judges nor will comments be considered in the judges’ deliberations.

Requests for information beyond what appears on either social media account, including public record requests, must be sent to the Court's Public Information Officer.

INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS

The Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court retains the right to hide or delete inappropriate content from its Twitter and/or Instagram account(s). Inappropriate content includes:

  • Comments that are inaccurate, misleading, repetitious, or irrelevant; hateful, malicious, disrespectful, or uncivil; threatening or attacking
  • Comments that violate or promote the violation of the law, the Rules of the Court, or the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration
  • Comments about partisan issues or political endorsements
  • Comments on current or future legal cases
  • Complaints against any individuals
  • Financial or commercial solicitations
  • Comments that violate the social media platforms' terms of use, code of conduct, and other policies.

Comments that are perceived to threaten the safety of a judge or court employee, whether directly or indirectly, will be reported to law enforcement. Content that violates the policies of the social media platforms may be reported.

Inappropriate content that is hidden or deleted may still be disclosed to the public or third parties without further notice. Repeated inappropriate comments or tags, including commercial or financial solicitations, may result in the user being blocked without further notice.

The Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court may, on occasion, share posts/materials from other users. These instances do not imply endorsement of any user, nor does it imply endorsement of any content/material outside of the selected materials being shared.

The Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court accepts no liability or responsibility whatsoever for the contents of any site linked from its Twitter or Instagram account or materials/content generated and publicly posted to the accounts by users. Materials/content include but are not limited to data, texts, software, music, sound, audio recordings, photographs, images, video, and messages.
