The 12th Judicial Circuit is pleased to offer Internet Access within its judicial centers through partnerships with Sarasota and Manatee County Governments.
Sarasota County's Downtown Unplugged Network
Access is provided free of charge
Instructions for using “Downtown Unplugged” Internet access:
- Use your wireless-capable computer to scan for wireless networks in the courthouse area.
- Select the network called “unplugged” and click “connect”.
- Launch your Internet browser; accept the Unplugged user agreement and you’ll arrive at the Downtown Unplugged Web page.
- You’re ready to surf the Web.
Limitations
- Security - this network is open to the public and can be viewed by others. It is recommended that you use personal firewall and anti-virus software while connected to an un-trusted network. Sarasota County Government, Unplugged or anyone associated with this service are not responsible for any loss incurred on this service. The safety of your data or equipment cannot be secured by Sarasota County Government, Unplugged or anyone associated with this service.
- Signal and speed - the signal may vary from one location to another and the speed will vary based on the type of wireless equipment used. Large numbers of users can reduce the overall speed of this network.
- Service - this service may be discontinued or modified at any time and is subject to additional laws, rules and regulations.
- Support - this is a free service offered to individuals using their own equipment. County staff is not able to provide technical support for any private equipment. If you have questions about the service, send an e-mail to wireless@scgov.net.
- Printing is not available. You may save your work to a disk or email files to yourself, then print at home
Requirements
- A wireless notebook computer, personnel desk assistant (PDA), or other device with an 802.11b or 802.11g compliant card is needed to use the service. Cards or drivers not supporting these standards may or may not work properly.
- This service will automatically assign you an IP address, depending on the configuration of your device.
Tips
- Make sure that your wireless card is enabled.
- Unplugged is an unsecured system, so you must allow open access to use the service.
- Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your wireless card.
- Make sure that your wireless card supports 802.11b or 802.11g standards.
- If you have a static IP address for your wireless card, change the address to Dynamic
Manatee County Government Public Wi-Fi network
Access is provided free of charge.
Instructions for using “MCG Public Wi-Fi” Internet access:
- Use your wireless-capable computer to scan for wireless networks in the courthouse area.
- Select the network called “manatee_county_public” and click “connect”.
- Launch your Internet browser; accept the Manatee County Government User Connectivity Policy acceptance agreement and you’ll arrive at the Downtown Unplugged Web page.
- You’re ready to surf the Web.

Manatee County Government, Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court or anyone associated with this service are not responsible for any loss incurred on this service. These browser options support many internet applications you would typically use, such as Web Browsing, Web Mail, and SSL connections. Other applications such as POP3 and SMTP email (Outlook, etc.), VPN, and Instant Messaging are not supported on this network.
