Administrative Order No: 2019–15.2

In Re:

Composition of the Sarasota County Law Library Board of Trustees

Whereas, pursuant to Chapter 59-1832 Laws of Florida, the establishment and maintenance of a Law Library in Sarasota County was declared desirable, a public need, and a general county purpose; and

Whereas, Sarasota County has continuously funded the Sarasota County Law Library since the passage of this law; and

Whereas, Chapter 59-1830 requires that the Sarasota County Law Library have a board of trustees consisting of a circuit judge resident in Sarasota County, who will serve as chairman of the board of trustees, and four practicing attorneys, appointed by the chairman, who maintain offices for the practice of law in Sarasota County; and

Whereas, it is the Chief Judge of the Circuit's responsibility pursuant to Florida Rules of Judicial Administration to be responsible for the appointment of judges to serve on local commissions and boards; and

Now, Therefore, by the authority vested in me as Chief Judge of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit and pursuant to Florida Rules of Judicial Administration 2.21 S(b )(2),

It is Ordered and Adjudged that:

Hon. Charles E. Williams is hereby appointed to serve as the chairman of the Sarasota County Law Library Board of Trustees. Judge Williams will appoint the four attorney members of the board of trustees to two year terms with initial appointments of two of the attorneys to a four-­year term, followed by subsequent terms of two years so that member terms are staggered.
