Administrative Order Relating to the Creation
of Four Felony Divisions

This administrative order was
renumbered by administrative
order number 2001-14-2.
The new number is
88–48–3
- Beginning January 2, 1989, there will be four Circuit Criminal Divisions. Divisions I and III in Manatee County, and Divisions II and IV in Sarasota County.
- When an Information or Indictment is filed, it will be assigned to the Felony Division corresponding to the first letter of the last name of the defendant as follows:

Divisions Ill and IV |
- In Felony cases that have more than one defendant charged in one Information, with one case number, the last name of the first defendant listed on the Information will determine which Division the cases shall be assigned to.
- When a motion that requests the consolidation of two or more cases is filed, the cases consolidated will be assigned to the Felony Division in which the case having the lowest case number (clerk's case number) was originally filed.
- The Clerk in Manatee County shall prior to January 2, 1989, redistribute all felony cases in circuit Criminal Divisions I and Ill to comply with the distribution formula set forth above.
- The Clerk in Sarasota County shall prior to January 2, 1989, redistribute all felony cases in Circuit Criminal Divisions II and IV to comply with the distribution formula set forth above.
- Violation of Probation cases will be heard in the Division to which the original case was assigned.
- All criminal appeals from County Court shall be assigned to the Felony Division utilizing the alphabetical procedure as set forth in paragraph 2 of this Order.
