Administrative Order

  1. The purpose of this Order is to set forth the procedures for the operation of the Traffic Violations Bureau - City of Sarasota Parking Violations Division (hereinafter referred to as the Division) established pursuant to Amended Administrative Order Docket# 78068, O.R. 1962 PG 2708 and as required by paragraph 5 of said Order.
  2. In the event that the owner or operator of a motor vehicle which has been cited for a parking violation by the City of Sarasota fails to respond to such citation as required thereon and in accordance with Chapter 33 of the Sarasota City Code, then the Division shall send a Notice of such violation by regular mail to the registered owner of the vehicle at the address given on the motor vehicle registration describing the nature of the violation and the consequences of a failure to respond within ten (10) days. The notice shall set forth the amount of the fine plus delinquency and any other fees due for the violation and it shall warn the registered owner that a failure to respond will result in a summons to be issued requiring his or her appearance before the County Court.
  3. Upon the expiration of ten (10) days after a notice of violation has been issued as set forth above, if the registered owner has not responded as required, the Division may issue a Summons requiring the registered owner I s appearance before the County Court at a date, time and place as set forth by the Administrative Judge of the County Court or his or her designee through periodic court calendars or memorandum. The Summons shall be served by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the registered owner at the address given on the motor vehicle registration and it shall set forth the consequences for failure to appear at the date, time and place indicated, In addition, the Summons shall state that the registered owner can eliminate the required Court appearance by the payment of the fine(s), the delinquency fee(s), and any other fees imposed.
  4. The Division shall prepare and maintain a docket for each Court session for the hearing and disposition of all parking ticket violations issued by the City of Sarasota for which a Summons has been issued as set forth above and for which a hearing has been requested. The Administrative Judge or his designee may indicate by memoranda limitations on the size of the docket and deadlines for additions to the docket. The Division shall note on, or purge from, the docket the names of all persons who have paid all outstanding fines and delinquency fees and any other fees.

This Order shall become effective upon rendition.
