Zoom instructions for Jurors

Joining a Meeting

Note: Before joining a Zoom meeting on a computer or mobile device, download the free Zoom App from the Zoom Download Center, the App Store (iPhone) or the Google Play Store (Android).

Open your Web Bowser
Go to Zoom.us
Select “Join a Meeting” at the top of the screen
Enter your Meeting ID provided on your juror summons in the space provided

Getting Started

Meeting ID Numbers, Display Names and Passwords

Each meeting has a unique 9, 10, or 11-digit number called a “Zoom Meeting ID” that will be required to join a Zoom hearing.

Find your juror number, Meeting ID number, and password on your jury summons. Questions? Call the jury coordinator’s office.

If you do not know your Meeting ID, please contact the jury coordinator in your county.

In the Meeting ID field, type in the Zoom Meeting ID number that was provided to you.

For your video display name, enter your juror number, followed by the initial of your first name and full last name.

Example: The display name for Jayne Doe, whose Juror Number is 123, would be 123 J Doe.

Next, enter the password that was provided to you.

Lastly, select “Join” to join the meeting.

JOINING THE MEETING WITH VIDEO & AUDIO

After joining the meeting you will receive two separate windows to join with your video and audio.

First select the “Join with Video” option to join the meeting with your video. You are required to keep your video on at all times. After joining with video, you will automatically be placed into the meeting waiting room. Once the Remote Jury Trial starts, you will be admitted into the Remote Courtroom.
Once admitted, you will receive the second window to join with audio. Select the “Join with Computer Audio” option.

Practice with Zoom

The Zoom website has a Zoom practice test. Feel free to experiment and become comfortable using the platform prior to your jury service.

How to Connect to Zoom Using an Android Device

Open the Zoom mobile app. Join a meeting using one of these methods:

Tap Join a Meeting if you want to join without signing in.
Sign in to Zoom then tap Join.
Enter the Meeting ID and your display name with your juror number, first initial and last name (Example: 001 J Doe).
- If you’re signed in, be sure to change your name to your juror number, first initial and last name.
- If you’re not signed in, enter your display name with your juror number, first initial and last name.
Select if you would like to connect audio and/or video and tap Join Meeting.

How to Connect to Zoom Using an Apple Device

Open the Zoom mobile app. Join a meeting using one of these methods:

Tap Join a Meeting if you want to join without signing in.
Sign in to Zoom then tap Join.
Enter the Meeting ID and your display name with your juror number, first initial and last name (Example: 001 J Doe).

Select if you would like to connect audio and/or video and tap Join Meeting.

Navigating Zoom

Using the icons at the bottom or side of the Zoom screen, you can:

Mute/unmute microphone

If you see a red line through the microphone icon, you are muted. Click on the icon to turn on your microphone.

Turn on/off camera (“Start/Stop Video”)

If you see a red line through your video, your camera is off. Click on the icon to turn on your camera.

View Participant list

This icon opens a pop-out screen.

Gallery/Speaker View

Toggle between the active speaker or tiles of all participants.
